You're listening to unfiltered us, where we keep it real and unscripted. I'm your host, Suzy, along with my husband, Miguel. Ready to dive in? Let's get started. All right. Welcome, everybody. Welcome to. I don't even know what episode this is. I lost track now. I think it's 24, maybe 25, somewhere around there. 975 975 season. What? 90. Yeah. We're like 90 years old now. Season. Oh my goodness. Imagine that. You're dangerous. Fall in the middle of of talking. Oh, man. All right, well, hey, congratulations. Your first long, uh, trip. My first long flight? Yeah. Long flight. There's something that you've been putting off for the longest. You actually did it. I know, I'm so. I'm surprised in myself. I did a treat myself or ourselves to first class. Yeah, that was actually a surprise. That was a surprise to him. He did not know that was happening. I didn't know if we were going. First class. That was that was an amazing trip. So thank you for that. We went going. I try to do it coming back home, which would have been nice, but it was full. Yeah. And that's what I get for waiting I guess until last minute. That's okay. At least you experienced it both ways. Uh, yeah. And now I know which way I want to go from. Oh, yeah. But. So, man, how how great of a trip we just did. And I'm excited to talk about it because I know that, um, it was your first time. It was my second time going to Spain, to Barcelona, you know, last year. For those of you guys listening in, last year, my son and I went, but we went in a different time. We went in a different month. We went in May and it wasn't as busy. The weather was completely different, but we had a great time. So. Talk about it. What did you say? The only thing was definitely the humidity. Yeah. Um, that really got to me. And also the fact that I did not realize this, but I guess a lot of Europeans don't, uh, shower. Air conditioning? No. I'm kidding. Um, yeah. No. Well, I mean, okay, so when even our hotel like it, it's just nonexistent. Yeah, I just think it's just not as strong as the AC that we have here in the US. I mean, when we went last May, it wasn't as hot. And so I think the AC worked perfectly right because the humidity was. And it was just hot. Yeah, exactly. So it felt like my brain, it felt great. But this time around. No, it was it. I, I felt that it was funny is that I have a friend that used to live there and he lives in Madrid now. And I saw him last time I went, and this time around we didn't get a chance to see him, but he told me when I was going, he goes, dude, this is hot. It's like Puerto la Cruz hot in Puerto La, Puerto la Cruz is the city I used to live, I grew, I was born in, and it was hot and it was humid during summer times. Right. And when he told me that, I'm like, well, cool, because, I mean, I'm used to it, right? That's how I grew up. Um, no, it's, uh, I've been I've been. You're not conditioned to Vegas either. I, uh, what is it? Acclimate. Oklahoma acclimated. Acclimated to Vegas heat. Where I forgot what that was like. I mean, it was horrible. That's the only thing I did not like about this trip was the humidity. I guess we're starting with the worst part of the trip. Yeah, let's just get it over with. And the fact that. Cuz even they. I mean, I just don't understand how they they don't. But I was actually talking to somebody at the gym today and I was saying that to them how it was beautiful and I loved it. But this is just so hot. And there was no AC anywhere. And you know, he goes, she goes. It's just that we're spoiled Americans. Yeah. And so we expect, uh, when we go to other places that other places are going to be that way. And. Right. And we're just spoiled. You're just, you know, spoiled American. And I'm like, oh, is this why they don't like us? Although I do have to say that you obviously hear so many stories about. Uh, Europeans or people from Spain not liking Americans. But honestly, everyone. Everyone is so sweet, right? I mean, like, the sweetest people, right? And it's not just people in the service industry even like people. Um, sometimes we run into people just on the street, and. And they're just so nice. Yeah. I don't know where you get that from, but, you know, I remember hearing that prior to the first time of, uh, me going last year, and I, I even this time around, you know, and we did a lot more at this time around than we did last time. And everyone was nice. Every person, every restaurant, every store, every, um, person, you know, that that we saw even, you know, even random people were like, oh my God, look at my tattoos and paint a compliment and stuff, you know? I mean, everybody was nice, so I don't know. Yeah. You know, I just think that's something that super sweet people. I think that's something people bring on to themselves. Maybe. Maybe, like, if you're a jerk, they're going to be a jerk to you. But no, like, we were going to like hole in the wall restaurant and they would welcome us in, like if we were sitting at their own dining room table. Like super sweet. I really, I really, really love the people there. Yeah. You know, two things I want to go back to with the heat. Right. How you said that you don't know how they do it. That's exactly what I was thinking. And I told you this, right? How? That's how I did it. For the first 15 years of my life, I live in a town where the weather was just like that pretty much every summer. We had no AC growing up. I just had a fan and we never complained. It was just something that we were used to. So for them, it's something that they don't complain. It's something that they don't think it's bad because they're so used to it. You know, we're just used to a completely different heat and we're used to walking into every business here. Yeah. Because you think about especially here in Vegas, right. You think about how hot it gets. But you can walk into any casino, any mall, any store. And unless they're AC broke, you're going to cool off. Yeah, you're going to cool off when you walk in. It's just a blast. Cold air in your face. Yes. And so and so. As an American, I was expecting that every time I walked into my hotel, every time I walked into a store, every time I walked into a restaurant, I was expecting the blast of cold air to hit me in the face. And it never happened. Yeah. You know, so if you do go to Spain, avoid it in the month of August. Yes, we did it completely. We went this time around because obviously our son wanted to celebrate his birthday there, and I wanted you to experience it while we experienced last time. And so that's the only reason why we went. And then he actually wanted to go in May because he wanted to watch a soccer game, but it was so close to at least his birthday that I had told him, you know, it's too close, just kind of put it off. And that's when he decided for his birthday. But, you know, we got what we got. And you know what? I guess now you can say you, you, you spend a a week there when it was hot. I don't understand how that they're actually high season because I would never go back again in August. Yeah. Why would people even. I don't know. Maybe because of the. Maybe because that's when they go to the beach. Because it's so hot. I don't know. I mean, the water did feel refreshing, so I don't I honestly don't know. I don't, but I agree. I think I think you would think that that's the time where there is less people there. And actually they are from what we experienced even was a lot of, um, restaurants and stores were closed because, um. They, uh, a lot of Spaniards go on vacation, so then I will definitely be not going in August anymore. That is my last August trip to Spain. Yeah, well, you know what I mean. It was like I said, it was different when we went back in May because the weather. But, um, other than that, I it was, uh, it was an amazing trip. You know, other than that, I and I tell you for for I, I remember when I came back last time, I, and I still say it again, I think every person should experience Barcelona once in their lifetime at least. Right. Just not in August, huh? Yeah, but you should experience it. The food was amazing, I agree. Uh, the people we talked about it right was amazing. The people are amazing. Um, the shopping was great. Oh, my gosh, this shopping. Yeah. We had a great time to you. If I ever go back to Barcelona, I will be taking an empty luggage. We almost bought one. An extra one. But we we we made it. We we had. Everything is just so much cheaper. And I love Zara like I'm a Zara girl. And since Zara is in Spain, it's made in Spain, right? And they had was just they had, they had like three other stores that are similar to Sarah. Sarah. That are not here in the US. And so we were able to go there as well too. And they were just as cheap and just as nice. Oh, I went crazy with the shopping for sure. But no, you know, the scenery is amazing, right? The tours that we took. So maybe we'll talk about that, talk about, um, the tours, like the stuff that we did, like the sights. You want to kind of go day by day. Um, you can if you want. Okay, so let's not drag it too much, but. Yeah. Yeah. Fast and simple, like day one. Obviously, we get there at nine in the morning. Um, we didn't want to take a nap or go to sleep, because obviously we don't want the jet lag to hit us. Right? So as soon as we get there, and as soon as we get to the hotel, which we got to the hotel, like around 11. Yeah, right. What I want to say. Um, and we just hit the ground running. Like, we changed really. We really quickly because our room was ready, right? We changed really quickly. We freshened up and all that. Our just, like, went out. We did. That's the day we went shopping for sure. And, uh, we did, uh, the I think we just did shopping that day. And then, uh, one of those friends who was a foreign exchange student here when he was, uh, in high school, she was in high school and did a year here. Uh, she lives in Spain, so they actually picked us up, and then they made they took us to the town there from. And they toured their town. It's a little town 30 minutes outside of Barcelona. To them, that's what I mean about people being so nice in Spain, because, I mean, they don't really even know us. And to pick us up. Yeah. And take us to their town and. To tour their town. They took us to get ice cream. Uh. All this. I mean, super, super sweet. And then they brought us back to our hotel. Very, very, um, nice people for sure. So that's all we did on the first day. The sketch. By the way, on that little town. Um, one of the things I love about Spain, about Barcelona. And I'm sure all of Spain has it. But one of the things I love about is the the history of it. Right? The, the, the tradition that they've kept, um, in the cities and in the preservation of a lot of old buildings. Right. Like the old churches and all that. And I, I don't know, to me that's just amazing, you know, and then to something you definitely don't see in the States. No, I at least I mean, obviously Spain is a lot older. I think there is that in the US it's just maybe more in the East Coast maybe. But it's even not as old, I feel. Oh, no. Yeah. No. These buildings over there go like thousands, thousands of years and they they've done their best to preserve a lot of them. And it's just amazing to be, you know, to be standing in a place. To me at least, it's amazing to be standing in a place. That it's that old. Yeah. And and they had that much history and that, you know. I mean, obviously, you and I are ancestors. They come from Spain. Right? And to be thinking man like our family, our ancestors from thousands of years ago lived here or were here or are from here, you know. And so I just think even going to that little city and going to the churches that we went to that were built like in the, I don't know, the 1200 to maybe, um, was just incredible. It's just amazing. And and again, this is why I would love would almost sense the energy. Yes, yes. It's insane. Yes. And this is why, you know, like I, I'm trying to take pictures and I'm trying to take videos to either show family or post on social media. But the the reality is, is that pictures and videos do no justice because you're missing what you just said. The energy from these buildings, even if you don't believe in, you know, like the Catholic. Because obviously a lot of this Catholic. Yeah, this is like Catholic world, right? Yeah. For real. And and even if you don't believe in any of that stuff, it's just amazing. Oh, absolutely. So I just wanted to share that. Let me see seen. History books. Yeah. I just want to share that from the little town, because I got a lot of that the very first day that we got there. Yeah. And that's what I wanted you last year when we went. That's what I wanted you to experience. That's why I wanted to be there. I know we were gonna tour those churches in that little town because, yeah, he didn't really tell us what he was going to do. He just wanted to get this out, and, um, we actually got there. They already had clothes, like, the little touring area, but they were the people there were super, super like, oh, no, just you could walk it yourself is just like, we don't have a tour person. And so we walked it ourselves. But I was standing outside of the building and looking at this church and I'm like, oh, there's nothing too special about the old building. But the moment I stepped into the church, the building, it was a completely different feeling. It almost took your breath away. Yeah. Um, by how it looked inside. And, uh, the like I said, the energy is just something you definitely cannot explain. Yeah. So then the next day, we did, um, book LA. Bulgaria is what it's called. It's like a market to market. Yeah. Um, with, like, fresh fruits, like a farmers market. Like, imagine a farmers market here times 100. Because that's what it really is. And I mean, it's clean and beautiful and. Uh, you know, everything is displayed so beautifully. You know, one, one of the things going to that market. Okay. Um, obviously, you know, when, uh, me growing up in a different country for the first 15 years of my life and going to a market, it's very similar to that, and it's just crazy. And even when we go to Mazatlan, if you go to the market, it's somewhat similar to that, right? It's just not as it's different because obviously it's different products and different people and they sell different things. But the concept of it, it's it's that right. Yeah. And it's crazy to it's crazy to know that our Latin country. So I'm going to say both because I've been to both I lived in Venezuela and I've been to the markets in Mexico and both of these countries and both of these markets and both of these, you know, uh, a lot of the things that we do obviously come from the Spanish tradition, you know, and so it's crazy how much influence, I mean, because obviously they're the ones that ruled at one point where we where we're from, right, until we got liberated, in a sense. But it's crazy the, the influence that the Spanish had in our Latin American countries that we think it's ours because we didn't know any better. But then you go to Spain and you're like, oh, this is where we get it from, you know? Yeah, I imagine everything comes originally from 100%. I mean, it's even our last names you start looking at, you know, there were there were cities out there called Zaragoza, which is, you know, people's last name is even a city. And, uh, you know, in Chihuahua, I think it's called Bahia de Saragossa. So that's all Spanish influence. Mhm. So and so we got there one thing also that you need to learn about being in Spain is that they're definitely not early birds. Everything there starts extremely late. So. Right. Us getting to start our day early. We get there. Um, cuz they open, I think, at 8:00 in the morning where they're supposed to open at eight in the morning, we get there and like nothing is set up like, yeah, I mean some stuff, but not really. Uh, and even I've noticed that the there's no real breakfast spots. Yeah. And lunch, they don't open lunch until one and dinner starts like at eight. Yeah. So that's one thing you definitely have to learn is that everything is super. So trying to have an early morning, you could have it, but you're just gonna walk the streets with everything closed and no people around you. So which I like that. It's very interesting. Yeah. I gotta be an early bird at all. I actually like that. I actually like the fact that you can wake up. Not so early. I'm not talking 5 or 6 in the morning, but you can walk on the streets at 8 a.m. and everything is closed and there's nobody on the streets. I kind of like that a lot. Because you get to see a lot of the buildings that a lot of people go see without the crowd. You know, you can't go in them, you just can't go in them. But you get to walk the city with nobody there, because if you wait till one, it's it's insane how much you make their day starts. Yeah. It's insane. The amount of people is insane. Yeah. So did we walked that market. We walked what's called the Gothic Quarter. Yeah, it's pretty cool. Which is, uh, just a bunch of stores, but it's very. I don't know how. Explain it. It's gothic. It's really what it is. It's. It's like the little alleys and the small streets and barely any cars go through it. And you know this again. It's got the old buildings and the old apartments, and it's got, um, some churches right in there. I mean, it's I, I thought that's actually one of my favorite spots because you can get a blast, right? That's all in the same. Well, the Ramblas is it was that middle. Yeah. The middle. The middle of the street. The middle of the street. Walk down. Yeah. And they have like little vendors down the middle of the street. Yeah. And the market is on one side and I guess the Gothic quarters on the other side of that. So it's like three things there in one. Well, I mean, it's just a city. It's just us. Yes. But the way they they kind of split it up is the market in the middle is Las Ramblas. And then on the other side is Gothic Quarter. Yeah. We did some shopping in Gothic Quarter. I like the Gothic Quarter because you, you can take one little street and go down to it and end up somewhere else and come back like there's no, um. No definite of direction, if that makes sense. You know, like you end up on one side or the other, depending on where you go. And so there's and trying to follow it back again another day we try to do it. We put it yeah we're back a second day and then we're, we're like we're, we're we're on we go the first day. So we actually ended up finding a church on the Santa Maria that was beautiful. And we were looking at the building outside and I was like, man, that's a beautiful church. So as we were walking up to it, um, you could take a tour of it for eight bucks. Well, €8, which almost. It's not exact, but it's $10. It's like almost a dollar to dollar. Almost. It's a little more dollar. But anyways, so we go in and we're literally the only people in this entire church. We ended up getting really lucky. A lot of times. We ended up doing a lot of stuff by ourselves. There wasn't a lot of tourists where we were going for some reason, even though the streets were full of people. Right. But this church was completely empty. We were literally the only three people in the church. And it was that church was the first one we walked into that actually had a lot of the Santos and stuff. Literally took my breath away the moment I walked in. I wasn't expecting to see anything like that because I had never seen any. Even the churches here, like I've never seen anything. Yeah, no. Like that. If it's so, choose the. Yeah. If you compare those churches even even looking at that church, even in Mexico, because I've been in churches in Mexico that are really beautiful. I've never seen churches like this, even looking at churches there, which that one that you're talking about was probably not like a magnificent one. It was probably just like a regular church there. Right? It still blows away the other churches that are here. It's it was incredible. The all of them, all the churches were like, yeah, all the churches, like I said, you know, when even if you're not, you know, a a devoted of the religion, I mean, it's just impressive to see that it is extremely it is. And and again pictures like I, I took some I took some awesome pictures of a lot of these different, you know, like figures and stuff that they have in there. All the saints and you just even pictures. I think there's no justice. You you have to really experience it. You have to really go for you to really understand. What we're talking about, but, um. And then that later on that evening was by class. Oh, yeah. That was fun. But, yeah, class was a lot of fun. Yeah. Too bad the the actual owner of the beer class, which we met last year, wasn't there this time, but he he was really fun. But the other girl that was there recognized us, and. Oh, my gosh, I thought that was hilarious. We were outside waiting for them to open the door to start the fire class, and we're standing there and the girl comes up and she's one of the she goes, oh my gosh, I remember you guys. And of course, I was talking to Miguel. Miguel because I had never been there before. And she was like, are you last time you guys were here, um, to watch a game? I mean, she remembered. Yeah, a lot about you guys. And I'm like, dang. Uh, like, yeah. She even asked, when. What month did you come? Last year. Yeah, we said May, and she pulled up on her phone and she had like a video that she had taken last May. Yeah. So that was that was funny. Yeah. See? And that that goes back to what you said. They're really nice people, you know. Yeah. To remember you guys is is crazy. Yeah. And I imagine that the hundreds and hundreds of people that take that class. Oh, yeah. And I mean, every day, seven days a week. Yeah. And they get, what, 20 people a day? So, I mean, you do the math. Yeah. People tend to, like a year and a half later. It's like I tell people I'm unforgettable. This is true. So she obviously did remember you guys. Yeah. Um, that that was so that that class was fun. Yeah. That class was fun. And even Alex, even him not being there. And I was texting him and he told one of his guys, hey, give him a shot of Miss Kyle. And so me and Miguelito took a shot of mezcal, and no one else did. But that was pretty fun. They sing Happy Birthday to Miguelito. Yeah, which was really sweet. Yeah. Uh, then the third. That was the first. No, that was the second full day. Yeah. The third. The third day we did. Oh, the monarch and Pueblo espanol. Yeah. Nothing too spectacular. It sure. Well, that that I think. According to what? Uh, Miguel said, that's actually, um, made. You know, that's that's not, uh, like, real. It wasn't there. It was something like that they built to kind of show the different types of regions of Spain, which was pretty cool to see that. And again, we got there. There was hardly anybody there. We were able to get some great pictures out of it. So, um, that was pretty fun. Yeah, it was beautiful to like. The best coffee corn I had was there though. Yes. That that cafe con leche was delicious. It was crazy. As I was walking by and there were some people, and it was hot. It was so hot that day. It was hot almost every day. But. And you're like, I want that coffee. I'm like, it's so hot. Like, why would you want coffee right now? Okay, so let me tell you. So what happened was, is we we go to this little bakery. Um, in the mornings, they get coffee, and the coffee's just not. It's not the best, right? Like you used to a certain type of coffee here and the way they made it. And we happen to be at the Pueblo Espanol, and I pass by, and this couple was having coffee, and I looked at it, and it smells so good. And I'm like, that's good coffee right there. So we go back inside. And even though it was hot, I told the guy, I said, what are they drinking? I said, is that a latte or what? And he goes, no, that's not coffee con leche. I said, I want one of those, and it was delicious. So I can smell a car. I can smell a good cup of coffee, I'm sure, but I would never want coffee when it's hot outside. And we've been walking. Yeah, but I knew whether I needed a good cup of coffee and I got it there. Too bad it was far from where we were. But it was. It was it. But it was the little subway there. Yeah, we took the the the subway there, right there. And then we walked a little bit. Yeah. Then the next, the next day we went to, uh, the wine tour and, uh. One. Montserrat. Montserrat. That was beautiful. Montserrat was beautiful. I wish we would have spent more time there. Um, so we did take a tour there, and the tour was a guided tour. And it was it was a great tour. Um, the only thing is, is that they only give you, like, an hour and a half of free time, almost, which it really turns into like an hour. And so it wasn't enough time for us to do what we wanted to do. After you check out that church, that tender and take some pictures, and you walk back to, you know, where you do a little bit of, uh, liquor tasting, you know, then you you really don't have enough time to go do some of the stuff, like go down and see the beating that's down there, or go to the store or whatever. So, um, I think that's a tour. If anyone goes, I recommend I don't want to say I did one. Yeah, I don't I don't want to say I don't recommend doing the tours that we did because maybe you love that, but I would recommend that if you can get to Montserrat on your own and spend good time there, do it because, well, you're not limited or you're not limited on time. Well, you have to come back and go to the winery because we had, you know, a meal that they were prepping for us and stuff. And so, um, I think now, I mean, again, that was my first time there, but now that I've been there, if I was to go do it again, I would do that. I would find a way to get there and be there all day without being rushed. I agree, been a little bit more time, sit down, grab a bite to eat, go do the things that you gotta do, check out the church, all that stuff. And when you're ready, you can go back. Yeah, because for sure, the hour and a half is definitely not. It wasn't enough time. It was a great tour, but it just wasn't enough time for. To be able to really look all of them. Yeah. I think you needed a little bit more time. So we did the wine tour and then, um, the wine in Spain. I'm out of town. Um, yeah. You know. Yeah. No, it's it's definitely not. It's a little too vinegary tasting too. Yeah, yeah, I didn't I didn't care for it. Yeah. Same I don't know if I, you know, you know, what's crazy about Spanish wine is that we had gone to Temecula and we stayed at this hotel that you call Europa. And then they had a wine tasting, and they gave you wines from like, France and Spain and Italy, and I forget which other, um, European country. And the Spanish wine was my least favorite then. And, and I thought, well, maybe that's the one they have in the US, you know, and now that we did this winery tour, it tasted the same. It tasted the same. And I'm like, it's just not my favorite. Yeah. There was only one wine. The last one that they gave was that that the one that one and the one. Yeah. The one that won an award. The cab that was. Good. Yeah. But you know but it but still I, I think there's better wines that we can find here. Yeah. And that we a California wine person. Same Italy has great wines though. Especially like Paso Robles, Paso Robles or Napa. They have great wine, great wines. Yeah, but the Spanish wines. Spanish wine. I mean, and again and again, maybe people may like that, but I it's just not, uh, we've had it in Temecula. We've had it in over there in Spain, and it just wasn't my favorite. Yeah, but there's people that love that, though. It just wasn't ours. It just wasn't our cup of tea. Uh, the following wine. A cup of wine. The following day we did Sagrada Familia, which that, um, the building outside. Yeah. Incredible. The detail and the building is something I have never seen before in my life. Yeah, and probably we'll never see again. It really is probably one of the wonders of the world. Yes. Mhm. Um, the church has been in construction since like 18, 26 or something, and there's no native one is going to get done. It's insane how long they've been working on this church, but I, I imagine it's because of the amount of detail. Yeah, I assume I know, but it's, even like that. There's was how many? I would say a thousand people during that church as we were. It was a lot for sure. It's definitely, like I said, it's one of the wonders of the world. And it was the most popular church company that we would be. Every everyone that visits is Spain, in the sense has to go to the Sagrada Familia because it's such a beautiful building. I mean, it's so massive, the outside and again, the history behind it, the details on it, the, the, the, the, the figures that they put in there and the tower of this and the tower of that. And it really is something that you you just cannot explain. You have to go. The stained glass, the stained glass. And was crazy that we went last year and we went, I think, early during the day. And then I walked in this time around, and it was later during the day and I'm like, it looks different. And then Miguel said it was because of the the way the sun is during the day, and it reflects the church stained glass from a different way, which makes the interior of the church look different. Yeah, I lights up the interior of the church. Yeah. I thought, man, they did a they, they did a refresh look on it, you know, and it was the stained glass that gets hit from the sun from a different angle. And so yeah. Um, it again it's something that and I and, and I, I'm gonna keep saying that through, through this whole podcast but. If you guys are down to go to Spain, let's say we're down to go. But not in August. Not in August. Uh, the tour to the tower would not do again. You know. No, never. I, I was not many places. I have a fear. But, man, you had a fear coming down the stairs, which I. I didn't have a fear of that. I just thought it was kind of dumb. Like they take you on an elevator all the way to the top, but there's construction on top, and it's still locked. So that you can say that you went to the top of the Sagrada Familia. Yeah, but there was literally no view of nothing. No, it was just so to pay the extra money to see, to go to the tower, don't do it. Yeah. There's not, you know, thing coming down. It was man. It was crazy. We it was I don't know how many storeys high we were up 60 storeys high. And the steps coming down is like a spiral stairs. And they only had handles on, on against the the wall. It didn't have any handles on the right. In fact, it wasn't even open. And then you can see and that's probably my issue. I looked down and I just saw this big old hole going all the way. They were like, look down. And I'm like, why would I look down? Oh gosh. And then the steps are so small and my foot and my shoes were wider, even if I stepped on it on sideways. And I don't know why you were I just I was actually more scared about the very first church that we went all the way up. Um, seeing that we don't have an issue. Those stairs were tiny, tiny, tiny things. But but it had it had rails on both sides. And it actually had, you know, you were coming down like this, uh, smaller, you know, like passageway. Passageway, the where the other one was open on the. And I can't hope you guys get a picture of it, but it was open on the side and there's no safety. Like, seriously, if you don't hold on to the left, right on the rail and you kind of tilt over, you're done. You fall, you're done. You are done. I don't know about. You might get hurt. You are done. You're gonna fall down the drain. Oh, at least that's what I was. I was like, no, I made me go. We're, like, practically running down the stairs. We did not find anything. We started at the same time. And all of a sudden, I keep hearing your voices get. We were cracking up with your voices getting further and further away. Yeah. Can we really hear? I promise you, we were practically running down the stairs like it was so easy to. Oh, no. I couldn't hear the voice and it was gone. And then I'm like, oh my gosh. And then you're like, oh, you're so sorry. And. And I got to the bottom. My legs were trembling. I'm like, I'm never doing this again. Ever. I don't think it was that bad to you the next day. Uh, Miguelito. Birthday. Finally, he wanted to go to a beach club, which, uh, he ended up picking was the one, I guess, the most popular one there, but. Again since everything there starts late. Um, we got there at one and there was nobody. So that didn't go as like, I think he planned, but we still ate. It was still beautiful. We were on the side of the on the beach, and, um, we had lunch there. And his friend joined us that the foreign exchange student, she joined us. So it was the four of us having, um, lunch for Miguelito. Those birthday. Did you enjoy that there? Yeah. It was, it was actually really good. And again, you know, when we got there, um, the heat, you know, the heat. But it was great. Beautiful view. Um, it was a place that we had never been there. Um, the restaurant was very nice. I mean, it was awesome. We we really did have a great time then for lunch. And then after that, I know we went to go. I saw, of course, when I'm over there and I'm on TikTok, all I see is different things for you to do in Barcelona. And I saw this. Ice cream shop. What they do is they take a croissant shaped like a cone that the top off, put the ice cream and then put the top back on and they put chocolate on the sides and it was put like a caramel drizzle, drizzle on it. And man, I had to try it. It was delicious. We ended up taking leaving there, the restaurant going there, going for ice cream, and then we left from there and we went to shop again. Yes, we did a lot of shopping. We did shopping. Zara there are like, um, seven elevens here. Yeah, there's a lot and they're beautiful too. They're all different. That's the thing too, about their stores. Yeah, they're nice. They're nice and clean, like chandeliers like. Yeah, beautiful, beautiful stores. And then our last full day we did kayaking, snorkeling and cliff diving in Costa Brava, which was an hour and a half away. We did a tour as well there. They picked us up and then they took us an hour and a half away. Oh, that was an experience. Because if you know me, I have this incredible fear of the ocean. I, I just don't like that. I don't know what's underneath me. Especially when it's so deep. And, uh, so we kayaked all the way to the snorkeling spot we kayak for along the kayaking to get to the spot. Probably took about an hour. Uh, yeah, 45 minutes. Maybe. We get there, we're on fire. And, uh, he's like, okay, jump in and we're gonna start snorkeling. Oh my gosh, I have to say about the jellyfish. Well, you were saying, okay, go ahead. No, it's just that when we got on, we had seen the the the the jellyfish. When we took that, that tour on the, on the boat. And when we got to the kayaking place, we saw the, the, the jellyfish all over the place and I'm like, oh hell no. Right. But then he told us that they didn't do jellyfish. Don't they don't sting. In fact, he grabbed one and yeah, he was joining us. But it was scary like mentally a thing like, oh no, it's still a jellyfish. We just don't know. You just didn't want one next to you regardless. Yeah, I, I didn't, but they were surrounding us. They touched a bunch of times. They did. They touch this because they're just there, but none of us got stained. But like I was saying, I had this fear and he's like, okay, jump in. And my heart was just racing. I was like, oh my gosh, like, I need to, I need to do this. Like I need to do it, you know, like and he even he at one point said it. He goes, you'll be more scared being above the ocean and not looking down than you do if you just look down. Yeah. Because you know what it is you start to like if your heads above water, you don't know what's underneath you, and you start to overthink, right? And you start to get so scared. And that's exactly what was happening to me. I kept wanting to stay above water, but I was just getting so scared. That's probably why you have I don't know what was under me. Right? That's why you have that fear. And so I noticed that every time I was stick my head underwater to like, look what's underneath me. Like with my snorkeling gear, obviously, um, my fear was just like, calm down, because then I could see what was under me. Yeah. You know, but if everyone saw, I'd be like, okay, but like, is there a shark in there? Just like, come out of nowhere, you know, because you start to think that too. But I can see, no, it would not have been fun. Oh, yeah. If there was a shark down there, I would have loved that. Are you crazy? No, I would have loved to see the shark down there swimming by us. You are lying. No I'm not. I would have been amazing if we would have been snorkeling up on top. And I would have seen a shark on the bottom. If you got scared of jellyfish and you didn't want a jellyfish to touch you, that we knew that wouldn't steam. You would be okay with the shark. You were such a liar. Yeah, I mean, the tour guy probably would have stopped it, you know? Oh, my. No. I've always wanted to swim with the sharks, but no, I, I, I see what you're saying. And so because there were some parts that were deep, deep like deep, deep blue ocean for like, you could just it, you could tell it was going on for miles and miles, it seemed like. And so, um, but yes, we did that. We did the snorkeling, we saw the jellyfish, we saw fish, we saw starfish. We saw all kinds of beautiful little crab. Yeah, a little crab, you know, a little crab when we. One of the things I know. I've always loved to do. It's everywhere we go. Like I have to get in that water. Right. Even when we went to Puerto Rico and we went to a UK and there was those waterfalls, I'm like, I have to get in that water, right? And every trip I've ever taken, I've always swum in whatever waters they are, whether it's the, the, you know, California, it doesn't matter. We've been all a bunch of different places with water Hawaii, Bahamas, Dominican, you know, and and that's the one regret I had last year when I went to Barcelona. And I didn't get in the water. I'm like, that's. I can't believe I came all the way over here. And I did not swim in the Mediterranean Sea. And so this time around that we went, I'm like, we have to go to the ocean, we have to go to the water. And I, I had a blast. Yeah. It was it was beautiful. Even though at first it was it was kind of raining in Barcelona. And Miguel was like, I don't know, I think we should cancel the tour. I don't think we should. And I'm like, we don't know. And then the tour guide was like, we're going like an hour and a half away. You know, the weather is one in Barcelona that is microclimate. It's another, you know, weather over there. Yeah. And so it was it wasn't working out there. It worked out because even though it was a little overcast that we still got a nice tan because you still get a tan. Right. And I think if the sun would have been out, we we would have it would have killed us. Oh, but it was I mean, we did the cliff jumping. We did. We did a bunch, which was another fear of mine jumping into an ocean. Yeah. But we did. We did the cliff jumping. We did the kayaking. We did. That was our pretty much our day. Yeah. And then, uh, we went back to our hotel and, uh, that's, we think we just had dinner and, like, packed up. Let's let's wrap it up with the food. What do you think about the food? The food is interesting because as an American, again, we're used to having, like, our own plates. How do I so like, you have your own big meal? Like you order yourself a big meal. That's your meal there, which I could see maybe why so many Europeans are so freaking skinny. It's. We pretty much just appetizers you all share. They you know they have their tapas. And so you just order a bunch of appetizers you share and then that's it. There's like no real hard like at Plato Fort as they call it. Like their actual your meal. Right. So I got used to that. I thought that the one thing I will say I like that though. I like that bus going towards the end. That's what really what I wanted. Just stop us. Yeah. Everybody. No problem. Pick like three, 4 or 5 of them and everybody eats a little bit of everything and that's it. Uh, the one thing I will say is for sure is that here, when I eat food here in America, uh, especially at a restaurant, you get bloated. Yeah, you just do, because, uh, obviously how everything is. Okay. It's. How badly is made. Yeah. Over there. Never felt that feeling, right? Not even once. Right. It was insane how different. And I me b me who loves to read ingredients. We even went to a grocery store and I was reading all the ingredients. You bought some potato chips? Literally. It was made with just potato and all the potatoes and olive oil. That's it, that's it. No artificial flavor. No artificial. No artificial nothing. No, no, no high fructose corn syrup dyes. No red dye, yellow dye, nothing like 40. Yeah. Everything was made with what it is. And that's it. Yeah. It it was incredible. Yeah, I love them. Their bread. Um, they eat so much bread. Yeah. Everything is bread there. I know you were a little iffy about all that bread at the beginning. But about eating on them? Yeah. We eat sandwiches every morning for breakfast. I got tired of eating sandwiches, for sure. But they're so good. And that's. That's the thing. When you go there, you have to experience food that you don't really get here. So if you eat a breakfast sandwich with Harmony, there you go. Every morning. It's not like you do that here every day. In fact, you got to take advantage of that while you're there, because the actual bread has none of the stuff that the bread has here. You see what I'm saying? And so it's almost like, um, you have to do it. But but I see what you're saying as far as the food, because I was eating croquettes everywhere and croquettes are fried food. And you don't feel, you know, here, go to a place and get some fried food. Your throat is like you need Drano to unclog it afterward, right? You don't. You don't get that feeling over there. And it doesn't matter any even eating the ham, which is kind of greasy. You still don't get that. Yeah. You know, it's the same. The food is amazing, though. I love that I love the tapas. Um, you know, I, I forgot that the steak tastes completely different there than it does here. That's the one thing I did in life. Um, we did go to a French restaurant, which they had steak and fries. Yeah, that was fine. That, uh. Delicious. Delicious, delicious. So me thinking that all restaurants are like that. I ordered a steak at another place and I did not like it. Yeah, I mean, you were like, it's because it's there. How the stakes are. Yeah. Here in Spain, they're like a little more tough. They're not very soft. And I'm like, oh no. I just think, you know, I, I know, I don't know exactly what they do to the steaks here in the United States. But I do know that they, they add something to it to make it look red and they add something to it that that softens up the meat. Where if you've ever gone to Mexico and you get a steak over there, the meat is not as soft as it is here. And just like Europe, you know, last year when we went, I remember going to a steakhouse and I remember thinking, man, this is tough. And this time around I forgot about it because we did go to that other steakhouse and it was soft. Yeah. How did that steakhouse soft state. And then we go to this other steakhouse and the meat was tough and I'm like, ah, I forgot this is how it is here. Right. And uh, but the flavor was good and it was just different. So if you do happen to go and go to a steakhouse and you expect the steak to be like the US, steak is not the same. So it's not like I was telling this to one of my buddies that at the gym this morning. And he goes, oh, it's kind of. What did he say? It was kind of like, um, uh, ah. For forget what he said. He goes, you were kind of like. Like it was like a letdown, right? And I'm like, it wasn't a letdown on the actual steak. It was more of a letdown on the expectancy to be the same thing as it is here. Yeah. You know what? I'm not disappointment. That's what he goes. Oh, the steakhouse was a disappointment. And I said the steak wasn't a disappointment because the steak is what it is. The expectancy to expect the same thing as it is here, over there. As was the disappointment. It's more in my mind really more than therein, because that's just the way it is over there. But everything was great. I think overall, if you guys ever do want to go to Barcelona, I highly recommend it. Um, everyone should at least experience it once in their lifetime. I would love to go one more time and maybe again on a month. That is not as hot. Yeah, back in May or maybe September. October. And I would love to take your mom and your dad for them to experience it. Yeah, I just don't know on the walking, but that for sure will be a trip that we have to Uber everywhere for them to see everything. Yeah, because my dad wouldn't be able to handle it. Yeah, I, I know that your mom would love and appreciate this because as we're showing them pictures and videos of everything that we saw and did over there. I mean, it's just, dude, no justice. No, without you having to experience that with your own eyes. Mhm. That's the beautiful thing about it. So that's true. I'm glad that I decided to take the long. Yeah it was great. Now you said you did it. No I could say I didn't. Yeah. So not only did I finally take my first long trip and visit a different country that I've never been. I also conquered a fear of snorkeling in the ocean. And I did a lot on this trip. Yeah. And we made a bunch of good people, too. Bunch of Americans. Every two Americans everywhere. I know every tour we did, we met. We met some good people, the class and then the wine tours. And even when we went to the bar to watch the game. Yeah. There was a couple that we met at recently, uh, married couple that we met from Texas. They were really cool too. Um, the, the the ladies that were there for the snorkeling tour to I mean, they were, you know. Yeah, we were we met a lot of cool people. Yeah, yeah. It was that's a beautiful about it. So. And then some other ladies that were there from Africa and the pioneer class too. Oh, yeah. Those were fun. There were fun. All right, well that's it. Yeah. We got some videos that I know I need to post and some pictures that I haven't posted. If you followed my story, I showed you from beginning to end on my vacation. Um, I was a great, uh, I don't know, storyteller on my. Yeah, on my Instagram stories. Yeah. You know, people love that. I love that when people go on vacation and I. You know what? I did it because I love when people do that. Yeah. Like, honestly, if you go on vacation and I know you're on vacation and you don't post anything, it actually a little annoys me because I want to know what you're doing. Yeah, I want to feel like we're on vacation together, right? And I'm like, I need to know what you're doing. Well, you know what? Okay, so that's that's kind of like the video that I have posted, you know, because when you're posting things like that, you know, you see a lot of people look at your stories and some people don't say anything, they don't even like it. But then you also get the other people that looks at your stories and they're like, oh my God, that's so beautiful. Wow, man. You did even today. Like I posted that little video of me cliff jumping, right? And people are like, man, great. That's awesome. I can't believe you did or something like that. It looks beautiful. You can tell the people that really enjoy watching what you post and you can tell the people that. In a sense, I don't know. I don't want to say they're haters, but maybe they are because they don't even say anything, you know? But that doesn't necessarily mean anything just because you're a target or a target or a talker on people's stories does it really is. Yeah, I know I I'm not meeting everybody. Okay. Not everybody like everybody I know doesn't comment. Okay. Let me let me read. Yeah. Because there's a lot of people that won't make any comments or anything. But then when you actually see them, they're rewarded. There's some. Not all. There's some I don't want you to be like, oh, just because you didn't make a comment. Not at all. Okay, I'll reward that. It's some. But anyway, we'll leave that for another topic. But that's going to be even if you're on vacation or not, people are just some. Yeah. We're just yeah. Great lookers of stories. That's true. All right. This was it until the next one. We'll see what we come up with. I feel like we're running out of topics here. Well, then you better start ChatGPT or something. Oh, we ChatGPT all the time, but it tells us the same thing over. No, no, we got more stuff to talk about, so we'll figure it out. But if you could give us ideas, we would love them. Yep. All right. Good. Questions? Comments? Concerns. Let us know. All right guys. Till next time. Love you. Love you. Bye bye. Thanks for tuning in to this episode of Unfiltered Us.
